PICTURING SUCCESS

MY STORY

A warm welcome to you all, I would like to give you an inside story about my business and how I started off.

There are a few elements to when I decided to turn my hobby into a business, I knew my stepping stones and where this business is going to exactly start from. Picturing success in my mind, but in the space between when I started to where I am currently at to me it looked a little blank. So where exactly did I begin?

 “That’s a great question” So let’s start...

PLANNING.

I knew straight away that I would want to start selling my Art to people who find value in it. Like any other business I started out by creating my business plan, mapping out the routes I want to take the goals I want to achieve. I began by defining my Art practice questioned my self during the plan out, ‘What is your mission?’ ‘How will you define success?’ Short term and long-term goals. I have learnt so much throughout my journey to opening up a business, writing down everything I love about my work, how I can also benefit from the progress and process during the journey for each individual piece I create.

I have ways of expressing art, one of them is by working through social media platform (Instagram). I have never felt so successful, using social media as my business platform, it has been the best thing for me.

I am an artist that works Part time alongside with my day job. Working mainly evening hours and working around the clock on my days off. all my work has been done at home, (now that I have moved into my new studio in Wimbledon I am currently settling in and will be starting my new projects). My work is created with mixed mediums with thick texture paste thrown onto the canvas to create some luxurious modern abstracts filled with different shades of colours. My work is coated with thick layers of paste giving it a lively look and feel.

When I paint, I rely on my instincts and using my hands to work the paste followed by adding extras such as ‘Titanium white acrylic paint’ to get different consistency to my paste, by building layers and layers around the surface. I choose a direction I would like my work to be created and work direction at a time keeping the paste smooth. Through my work, I am constantly exploring the relationship between colours, using light/dark/warm shades and working through contrasting for each section of my canvas. I am continually moving the artwork back and forth keeping my texture work subtle and positioning the right amount of paste to create an overall structure to my work.
